BioNJ, one of our Supporting Organizations, is holding their BioPartnering Conference. Please download the brochure for more information.
Hi all,
We had a great event last Friday. The Summit went off without any major hitches. We had over 170 people in attendance and many stayed to the end.
Our panelists addressed issues of concern to the life sciences industry and several participants shared their satisfaction with the event.
We’re in the midst of conducting a post-event evaluation, so we can find out what worked or didn’t work.
I hope to have the conference slides posted in a day or so. Video should be available next week.
In the meantime, please call me with any questions or comments.
Drew Harris

Background information about Sanofi-Aventis’ R&D activities have been posted.
I’m happy to announce that Harold J. Wirths, NJ Acting Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development, has confirmed his attendance at the Summit and will be participating in the third panel, Workforce Development- How Can NJ’s Life Sciences Professionals Position themselves for the Future?
Also, Caren Franzini, CEO of the NJ Economic Development Authority, will be joining us as a participant in the afternoon case study.
Should be an exciting day.

Introductory comments from Drew Harris, Chair of the NJ International Life Sciences Summit and President of the NJ Association for Biomedical Research.
Biotechnology and other life sciences companies in New Jersey are integral to New Jersey’s job growth and future economic health. However, the effects of restructuring and mega-mergers among pharmaceutical companies have taken a toll on some industry functions. Today’s forum brings together experts from academia, business, and government to examine the life sciences industry in light of the changing industry models in the state. They will discuss how New Jersey can build on its current ranking as the eighth- largest biotechnology center in the nation in order to promote itself as an attractive place to site new businesses, develop innovative methods for attracting and retaining a talented workforce, and offer opportunities for worker development.
