We had a great event last Friday. The Summit went off without any major hitches. We had over 170 people in attendance and many stayed to the end.

Our panelists addressed issues of concern to the life sciences industry and several participants shared their satisfaction with the event.

We’re in the midst of conducting a post-event evaluation, so we can find out what worked or didn’t work.

I hope to have the conference slides posted in a day or so. Video should be available next week.

Previously, Dr. Chew was President, U.S. Research & Development and Vice President, Therapeutic Department Head, Metabolism, Diabetes and Thrombosis at Sanofi-Aventis.

Biotechnology and other life sciences companies in New Jersey are integral to New Jersey’s job growth and future economic health.  However, the effects of restructuring and mega-mergers among pharmaceutical companies have taken a toll on some industry functions. Today’s forum brings together experts from academia, business, and government to examine the life sciences industry in light of the changing industry models in the state. They will discuss how New Jersey can build on its current ranking as the eighth- largest biotechnology center in the nation in order to promote itself as an attractive place to site new businesses, develop innovative methods for attracting and retaining a talented workforce, and offer opportunities for worker development.
